The project is designed to contribute to the national goal of poverty reduction
through up-scaling the production and industrial consumption of charcoal, a solid renewable fuel, thereby reducing carbon emission and generating 10,500 green jobs at the local level. This project is conducting through the collaboration of Helvetas Nepal, IUCN, STARIC/N, ANSAB and Winrock Internationals.

This project (www.bioenergy.org.np) aims to contribute to national goal of poverty reduction through up-scaling the production and industrial consumption of bio-energy, thereby increasing employment and reducing carbon emissions.
The specific objectives are to:
- Create more green jobs through up-scaling Small Sized Charcoal Enterprises
- Reduce carbon emission through diversifying the production and use of bio energy as an alternative to imported fossil fuels(LPG, kerosene and coal)
- Sustain the production and supply chain of bio energy and strengthen capacities of actors of charcoal sub-sector while at the same time enhancing natural condition.
